HULK, CLOAK & DAGGER Targeted for TV

According to an article Thursday on the Hollywood Reporter, The Hulk and Cloak & Dagger are the first two Marvel properties in the early stages of development under the publisher’s newly created Marvel TV division.

The Hulk, of course, was at the center of a late ’70s/early ’80s CBS live-action series starring Bill Bixby as Dr. Robert Bruce Banner and Lou Ferrigno as his big, green alter ego. (Feel free to hum the closing theme to yourself as you read this.)

Cloak & Dagger is a little more of a left-field choice. The two characters, introduced in 1982, are cult favorites and have starred in several of their own series, but have appeared in only the periphery of the Marvel Universe in recent years. According to the Hollywood Reporter article, the series is being targeted for ABC Family.

The article goes on to describe other Marvel properties on the “maybe” list, including The Eternals, Heroes for Hire, The Punisher and a couple of confusingly identified ones: what’s called in the article “Agents of Atlas, Alter Ego” — which is apparently Alias — and “Moon Knight, the Red Hood.” (Wha?)

Jeph Loeb took the job as head of Marvel TV in June, and recently wrapped a run on Hulk.
